Basic Purpose: The person in this position will play a key role in the day-to-day management of Shady Hill School's website and provide support on various marketing and communications-related projects.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of the School’s website, including writing, editing, and publishing key web content — news, events, photo galleries, calendar items, and other page content — that is timely and accurate 
  • Enhance the web presence of the school through the use of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Management of all web-related support needs in partnership with third-party web development firm, and strong knowledge of web-based tools
  • Management of the Parent & Faculty Portal section of the website - including updating rosters, creating web pages, managing reports, troubleshooting faculty & parent questions
  • Maintain family data and export data as needed in Blackbaud software program 
  • Edit and send out pushpage communications as needed
  • Provide support in writing, editing and design for the web and school publications as necessary
  • Occasional photography and videography at school-related events for web and print use
  • Work with parent groups (Parents Council, DASH, Fair Chairs, etc.) on website needs 
  • Occasional evening and weekends hours and flexible work schedule required
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; English, humanities, or communications concentration preferred
  • Strong writing, attention to detail, and organizational skills required
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and basic HTML
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines 
  • Photography and video experience desired
  • Relevant experience in communications, graphic design, web-related tools, marketing, or a related field a plus
  • Experience with Blackbaud software platform a must
  • Knowledge of Blackboard Connect program a plus
  • Background in independent school environment or non-profit a plus
