Transportation Manager

Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a Transportation Manager to direct, coordinate, and supervise the Brentwood School Transportation Program, the Brentwood Multiple School Partnership Busing Program (BMSPBP), and Brentwood’s transportation software. This position serves as the liaison between transportation service providers and the school communities participating in the Brentwood Transportation Program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and administer all facets of the school bus, shuttle, walking, biking, and carpool needs of the school and the BMSPBP
  • Direct and regularly interface with contracted transportation companies and in-house transportation for student pick-ups and drop-offs
  • Coordinate periodic transportation surveys
  • Work with contracted bus company to establish routes that are convenient safe and equitable for our families and to provide the largest percentage of bus ridership
  • Provide timely and friendly customer service to help answer transportation program questions and concerns coming from parents, students, and school employees requiring availability during and between transportation operation hours
  • Manage and provide updated transportation content for school’s website and marketing materials
  • Collaborate with Lower School transportation support to ensure a timely and accurate after school dismissal program
  • Maintain and create bus and shuttle routes, adjusted each year, to align with the school’s current demographics, keeping equity, timing, and safety in mind
  • Work with parents to create carpool routes that meet our school’s requirements
  • Coordinate weekly transportation meetings
  • Work with the Public Safety Department to ensure that families are following established carpool rules and school bus requirements
  • Work with school faculty and staff to create and encourage walking, biking, carpools, vanpools, and other transportation options to replace driving of individual cars to campus
  • Coordinate and schedule busing for field trips, community service activities, after-school sports activities, and all other types of bus services while keeping budget in mind
  • Work with BMSPBP, which provides school buses to the public and private schools
  • Manage transportation software and work with school administrators to ensure that our transportation software has the most current data
  • Research and onboard new bus and in-house vehicle tracking software
  • Oversee and enforce Brentwood Schools Vehicle and Fleet Safety Policy for all in-house drivers
  • Support facilities department in fleet maintenance and daily operations of in-house student, Veteran Affairs transportation, and employee transportation
  • Manage Employee Commuter Benefits Program
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and school administration


  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar or related field preferred
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proven personnel management skills and contractor management experience, with aptitude to judge quality of performance
  • Ability to manage a budget and personnel
  • Valid class C driver’s license required
  • The ability to adapt, analyze, assess, calculate, make decisions, demonstrate good judgment, and multitask
  • Proven capability to juggle multiple projects and hit tight deadlines
  • Proactive, self-motivated, flexible, and team oriented
  • An interest in and openness to professional growth and development
  • Takes initiative to continuously improve work processes
