Our School:  

Oxbridge Academy is a non-profit, independent, co-ed, grades 7-12 day school in West Palm Beach, Florida. Founded in 2011, Oxbridge serves over 500 students and delivers a unique curriculum that allows students to explore a large selection of courses and programs beyond the traditional core. These include aviation, Cambridge Scholars, artificial intelligence, and a host of seminars in humanities and social science. Oxbridge faculty members are disciplinary experts and master teachers who provide opportunities for students to achieve their learning objectives, develop to their fullest potential, and live our Oxbridge values:

The Opportunity:  

Oxbridge is seeking a full-time, experienced Music Teacher to teach high school and middle school students, direct choir/vocal performances, and prepare students for acceptance into top college music programs. Courses taught in the music department include Chorale, Digital Music, Studio Recording, and the vocal component of Introduction to the Performing Arts. Theatre students perform in two major concerts per year and participate in various FMEA events including All State. The Oxbridge Chorale has been chosen to perform at the Epcot Carols by Candlelight, and participated at choir festivals held at some of the great concert halls in America including Carnegie Hall. Over the next few years, our curriculum will be integrated with the new middle school. The right candidate can have a substantial role in that process.  

Tasks/Essential Functions:  

  • Pursue relevant professional development to maintain expertise in subject matter, curriculum development, and teaching methods. 
  • Prepare learning activities in an environment that fosters collaboration, inquiry, innovation, and personal discovery. 
  • Collaborate within the department, school community, and greater community on multidisciplinary projects and initiatives. 
  • Cultivate Oxbridge’s core values of kindness, courtesy, integrity, respect, and compassion. 
  • Advise a group of students and keep parents and legal guardians informed about student’s progress. 
  • Additional duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Advanced degree in a related field preferred.   
  • Demonstrated ability to engage the interest of middle and high school age children. 
  • At least three years of relevant classroom teaching experience. Ability to work well with students, parents, and all members of the Oxbridge community. 
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate improved learning, habits, and measurements of achievement. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
