The Winsor School is an independent girls' school for academically promising and motivated students in grades five through twelve. The school is seeking a part-time beginning wind ensemble teacher to start in early September 2023. Strong candidates will have a degree in music and experience teaching beginning wind and brass students (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, and euphonium) at the middle school level in a group setting as well as in private lessons. Private lessons will be taught in our After School Music Program (ASMP).
Duties will include:
Creating and teaching lessons for beginning wind instruments during our Performing Arts Block (PAB) on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9:25-10:10 a.m.
Preparing students for two performances, one at the end of each semester during the Friday morning block.
Writing short bi-monthly curriculum updates.
Completing pass/fail grades and checklists at mid-term and end-of-semester.
Teaching private lessons in our After School Music Program (ASMP) in person on Mondays from 2:45 p.m. up to 6:00 p.m. depending on signups and on Zoom, Tuesdays-Fridays depending on teacher availability and student signups.
A willingness to collaborate, a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and an interest in using a variety of pedagogical approaches in the classroom and during private lessons are essential.
